EMDR Therapy

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a comprehensive psychotherapy approach based on scientific research. It is intended to reduce negative emotions, limiting beliefs, and physical symptoms linked to traumatic events while healing trauma. The World Health Organization, the Department of Defense, and the Veterans Administration all employ this incredibly successful, scientifically validated medication.

WHAT IS EMDR THERAPY USED FOR?

Anxiety, sadness, low self-esteem, relationship problems, eating disorders, addiction, and phobias can all be successfully treated using EMDR, which was initially developed to address the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

EMDR is also used to treat childhood trauma and attachment wounds, so it can be a beneficial treatment for adults who experienced neglect, abuse, or emotional turmoil as children (due to poverty, racism, addiction/mental illness in the family, etc.) or who grew up in chaotic households. When kids get through these things, it might show up in their adult lives as addiction, low self-esteem, anxiety, sadness, and humiliation.

Through EMDR therapy in Los Angeles and other cities, our clients can better process their past experiences and sort through the feelings and ideas they are associated with. We can deliberately activate the trauma to move through it and stop it from playing out in the present through eye movement or other kinds of bilateral stimulation (through buzzers, tapping, or sound). Positive ideas and sensations replace negative ones that are no longer helpful or seem humiliating, resulting in happier emotional experiences.
